Was AAP’s article published in The New York Times a “paid news”?

Earlier in the day, the Delhi BJP launched a savage attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, alleging the item was sponsored news. This occurred not long after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal complimented Manish Sisodia as one of the top education ministers and posted a New York Times front-page piece praising the Delhi educational model.

After sharing a paper cutting from The New York Times and Khaleej Times, Delhi BJP leaders questioned how the same piece with the same photo by the same author could be published in two different papers. Searches for Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia drew a strong response from The New York Times, which insisted that its front-page article about the politician’s overhaul of the city’s public schools and healthcare system was completely objective.

Nicole Tylor, a spokesperson for the NYT  newspaper said, “Our report about efforts to improve Delhi’s education system is based on impartial, on-the-ground reporting, and education is an issue that The New York Times has covered over many years. Journalism from The New York Times is always independent, free from political or advertiser influence,” said Nicole Tylor, a spokesperson for the newspaper.”

In a press conference today, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the CBI’s investigation was brought about by the prominence a reputable newspaper gave to his deputy’s accomplishments. The CBI is accusing Mr. Sisodia of implementing a corrupt and kickback-filled liquor strategy for Delhi after conducting raids that began at his residence. “The CBI raids come on a day when the Delhi educational model was acclaimed and Manish Sisodia’s picture was published on the front page of America’s main newspaper NYT (New York Times),” the speaker alleged.
The BJP tried to discredit the article and Mr. Sisodia by calling it “paid news,” which was a ludicrous claim that the publisher refuted.

The New York Times has addressed how other publications syndicate its material to disprove the charge.

“On public television, they lie! A story in the New York Times compliments their staff (Karandeep Singh). Below the item in the Khaleej Times is the term “courtesy New York Times.” “The AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj commented. “I dare them to use their resources, both material and political. Try to get a story published in the New York Times if you believe it is possible “He added.

According to our fact check, BJP’s claim about AAP’s article published in The New York Times appears to be a fake news
